We will hike about 4 miles to some of our management areas where we will discuss how sustainable forestry practices can increase wildlife biodiversity and overall health of forested landscapes.

DESCRIPTION:For 35 years the United Way Coastal & Western CT has helped students from struggling families in Greater New Milford towns begin their school year feeling prepared and self-confident.  This program continues due to the dedication of volunteers and generous donors. \nItems needed for each book bag: \nBelow are quantities of items typically packed in each bookbag.(Quantities of items may vary slightly depending upon grade) \n#2 pencils –  3 dozen\, Ballpoint pens – 3 dozen\, Hi-Lighters – 2 packages\, Colored pencils – 2 packages\, Crayons – 2 boxes\, Washable Markers – 1 package\, Composition notebooks – 3 minimum\, Spiral bound notebooks – 6 minimum\, 2-Pocket folders – 10 minimum\nItems NOT needed: Backpacks\, 3-ring binders\, Calendars or journals\, reusable water bottles \n If you prefer to donate individual items\, i.e.\, 12 boxes of pens or pencils\, 50 folders\, etc.   That’s GREAT! DESCRIPTION:The Sherman Chamber Ensemble presents “Classical Classics” with music for flute\, and strings.   \nIn a tribute to America 250\, the program features String Trio No. 1 by Joseph Antes (1740-1822)\, one of the earliest American-born chamber music composers and a contemporary of Franz Josef Haydn.  He is also the maker of perhaps the earliest surviving bowed string instrument made in America\, a violin from 1759 – now housed in the Moravian Historical Society in Nazareth\, PA. \n\nHaydn\, Flute Quartet in D Major\, Op. 5\, No. 3\nMozart\, String Quartet in D Major No. 21\, K. 575\nAntes\, String Trio No. 1\nBeethoven\, String Quartet No. 8 in E Minor\, Op. 59\, No. 2\n\nPerformers: Doori Na and Jane Chung (violin)\, Susan Rotholz (flute)\, David Creswell (viola) and Eliot Bailen (cello). \nTickets $30. Children ages 16 and under free
